Protecting your personal data matters to us. We process your data solely in accordance with the law (GDPR, Austrian Data Protection Act, TKG 2021). This website deliberately does without tracking, analytics tools, advertising cookies and embedded third-party content.

Booking enquiries via the form

When you contact us via the enquiry form, we process the data you provide (name, email address, optional phone number, travel dates, number and ages of guests, requested extras, message) in order to answer your enquiry and, where applicable, conclude an accommodation contract.

• Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries).
• Transmission: The enquiry is sent to us by email and you receive an automatic confirmation. We use [add email provider, e.g. Resend, Inc., USA – EU-US Data Privacy Framework] as a data processor.
• Retention: If no booking is made, we delete the enquiry after 12 months at the latest. For bookings, we keep the data for as long as statutory retention obligations require (e.g. 7 years under Austrian tax law, guest registration under the Registration Act).

To prevent spam, we use an invisible check field and a short-term, IP-based rate limit held in the server’s memory. IP addresses are not stored permanently.

Guest registration

As an accommodation provider we are legally required to register guests under the Austrian Registration Act and to pay the tourist tax to the municipality (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

Server log files & hosting

When you visit the website, our hosting provider [add provider] stores technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) in server log files to deliver the website securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are deleted after 14 days at the latest.

Content & images

Texts and images on this website are managed with the content management system Sanity (Sanity AS, Norway). They are retrieved when the website is built and served from our own server – no connection to Sanity is made when you visit the website.

Cookies, fonts & external services

This website does not set any cookies. All fonts are served locally from our own server – no connection is made to Google Fonts or other third parties. Links to Google Maps or Apple Maps only open the respective service after you click them; from then on, their privacy policies apply.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Simply contact bergnest.laterns@gmail.com. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law, you can lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (www.dsb.gv.at).
